Fair Play Camp School

Welcome

Fair Play Camp School, Inc. is located in Oconee County in upstate South Carolina.  Nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, this property of over 500 acres is graced with several creeks and a huge variety of plants and animals.   This camp has become a sanctuary for many boys over the years.  We work with boys from ages 8 to 15, who are experiencing behavioral and/or emotional problems and who agree to placement because they have a desire to change.

Fair Play Camp School, Inc. is licensed by the South Carolina Department of Social Services as an Intermediate Group Care Facility.  The camp is also a member of the South Carolina Association of Children's Homes and Family Services, as well as the Wilderness Road Therapeutic Camping Association.

Our Mission

Our mission at Fair Play Camp School is to share God’s love and give boys a new outlook in life. Our goal is to help them recognize and overcome the problems that have prevented positive social development and appropriate relationship building in their families and communities.

Failure is a common thread that runs through most every aspect of life for the boys prior to coming to Camp. These problems are evidenced at home, school, and in their communities. Through living in a group a boy has the opportunity to experience acceptance and success no matter what his experiences of the past. The staff at Camp have a deep commitment to share God’s love, helping each boy develop positive life skills and depth of character.

Therapeutic Camping

The Path

Campbell Loughmiller developed the concept and philosophy of therapeutic wilderness camping more than 50 years ago.  Its profound impact in the area of positive social development in the life of a troubled youth gave the program its credibility.

Floyd Yoder, along with his father Harvey Yoder started this camp in 1980.  They had a strong desire and vision to reach troubled youth and give them a new start in life.  The original camp was located in Fair Play, South Carolina.  In 1990, the camp relocated to its current location northwest of Westminster, SC.
